Fallout 76

Bethesda announces ‘Fallout 76’ just ahead of E3!

Bethesda has pulled a fast one here, folks. Surely when they tweeted out the classic Fallout screen, “PLEASE STAND BY,” we all assumed we knew what was coming. It’s the 10 year anniversary of Fallout 3. A remaster or port seemed likely. But they started streaming over Twitch. All. Damn. Day. It seemed like they were trolling. They couldn’t build up this level of hype for a simple anniversary edition. And they didn’t! This morning, Bethesda has officially announced Fallout 76! A brand new game, said to be taking the franchise “in a new direction.”

You can see the new teaser trailer below! And keep reading for the few details we can confirm!

Fallout 76 is set to take place in 2102, 25 years after the bombs dropped. This marks the earliest setting for a Fallout game (barring the intro to Fallout 4, and an historical simulation playable in Fallout 3‘s DLC). The teaser obviously shows us a protagonist living in Vault 76, which we also know a few things about based on information gleaned from previous games in the series.

In the Fallout timeline, Vault 76 was one of Vault-Tec’s control vaults. It debuted in 2076 in honour the U.S.’s tricentennial, just a few short months before the nuclear blast. It was 1 of 17 known control vaults, used as a baseline to compare results against the other experimental vaults. these control vaults had no additional experiments of their own. Vault 76 was home to 500 survivors, and was designed to open its door after 20 years.

As of yet, there is no release date and no additional details. But This Guy’s already pumped! He’s always itching for another trip to Post-Apocalyptica!

What do you think? Is this the Fallout game we desperately need right now? Are you hyped? Disappointed? Is there a chance Bethesda has anything else up its sleeve for E3? Let us know your thoughts here or on Twitter, @This_Guy_Writes!

This Guy

Who likes movies? This Guy! Who has way too much to say, and lacks the mental focus, or appropriate filters necessary to express himself in an acceptable fashion? This guy! Oh, and something about two thumbs.
